KAREN ROBERTS is a resident of Greensboro, NC; a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Sports Nutritionist, Certified Forks over Knives Instructor, a competitive bodybuilder, competition judge, trainer, motivational speaker/coach, and author. She has been in the fitness industry for over 40 years.
As a wellness coach and personal trainer, Karen uses a holistic approach to teach the importance of taking time, for spiritual growth, eating and drinking healthy, getting rest, working out, and having a meaningful social life, whether going to the movies or spending time with family and friends. And she also teaches that the body is self-healing given the right circumstances.
Karen has helped countless clients lose weight, tone up, build muscle, and come off of or reduce their medications (after consulting with their medical care specialists).
As a motivational speaker, Karen engages in events from churches to non-profit organic, holistic health and wellness organizations. She has had the honor of being a guest on Spectrum News (Raleigh, NC) as a fitness advisor. She has directed the NC A&T State University Alumni Fitness Bootcamp for the past six years.
Karen is a co-host with her husband, James, of “Living Fit with James and Karen Roberts.” A radio program [100.7 FM The Joy WLJF; (https://streema.com/radios/WLJF_LP)] that coaches a health and wellness lifestyle using spiritual principles from the bible. After doing this program for seven years, Karen was inspired to write a book, “Fitness Tips, A Practical And Biblically Based Guide To Live A Healthy Life.” which she hopes will keep people motivated and focused on their health and wellness goals.
When not working, Karen enjoys learning, traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her husband, James, and their four sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. She also enjoys working out, lifting weights 5- 6 days a week, hiking, bike riding, and cooking healthy dishes.
As a counselor, I've learned that using traditional and sometimes unexpected approaches when working with my clients, can yield very positive results. For some clients the philosophies and movement strategies of Aikido, a Japanese martial art, are a catalyst for moving beyond roadblocks and negative energy, to step toward the life they wish to lead.
Since 1995, I've been a National Certified Counselor and also a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. My goal is to always apply my knowledge and experience as a counselor and martial artist to help my clients discover and use their strength, power and resources to find joy, fulfillment and purpose in their lives.
